Integrative approaches to medicine have gained momentum in
recent years in response to the growing problem of medical
hyper-specialization.While no one doubts that the human body is an
integrated system, whereby each element is dependent on the rest
for normal function, modern medicine is increasingly practiced in
an "organ specific" way. Consequently, many people receive
care, which is compromised by this "tunnel vision" and could have
grave implications to their health. The situation is even
worse in psychiatry where the essential inter-connection between
body, brain and mind (i.e., thoughts, feelings and other abstract
aspects of the human conscious experience) is often totally
neglected. Integrative Psychiatry is the attempt to unify
this fragmented approach in a responsible, scientific and
clinically useful manner.
Our Mission
TIIPS was founded by Dr. Rami Kaminski M.D. to educate the
public about the principles of integrative approaches to psychiatry
and medicine and to promote emotional and physical wellness through
the widespread application of those principles.
